At sunset, Kevin Kihara plays a rare steel-drum-like instrument called the Halo at places like the Berkeley Rose Garden and Indian Rock. Kevin recently lost his dad to Parkinson’s disease. He dropped out of college to take care of him for eight years. Kevin plays the Halo to quiet his own mind and to help strangers in the East Bay escape from the stress of everyday life. This piece aired on KALW’s Crosscurrents and you can listen to the audio and read the web version on their website.
