William Bennett spent most of his adult life in prison. 31 years to be exact. About a year and a half ago, Bennett was released. That’s meant quickly developing life skills that usually come over time- things like how to negotiate a salary, find an apartment, and connect with his family. Now, at the age of 51, he has to learn…fast.

This series of stories for KALW chronicles Bennett’s re-entry to society. The series  looks at the challenges he and his friend John Porter  face in finding a place to live, finding employment and reuniting with their families.

The stories aired on  KALW’s daily news magazine Crosscurrents and AARP.
